The Film Advocacy Task Force is dedicated to ensuring the continued survival and public exhibition of film materials… but we need your help!
There are simply too many theaters, both corporate and independent, projecting film in this world for us to know about all of them, but we’d like to make a concerted effort to try. Tell us about your favorite film-projecting venue(s) and we’ll add them to our databases and get them the resources they need to continue projecting film in the future.
Information is key here, so a link to their website or Facebook is more helpful than a business name and a town… but we’ll take what we can get.
Help us keep films on the big screen! Send us your cinemas!
Trustees Theater is located in Savannah, GA. The theater’s opening show, an 11 a.m. screening of “Enchanted Forest” starring Brenda Joyce and Edmund Lowe in 1946, began more than three decades of phenomenal shows ranging from motion pictures to live stage productions.
After undergoing major renovations under SCAD’s ownership, the theater reopened in 1989 with a performance by Tony Bennett.
In years following its reopening, the theater has played host the Savannah Film Festival, the Savannah Music Festival, Neko Case, Arturo Sandoval, India Arie and the B-52’s,among others. We are also the home to the SCAD Cinema Circle, showcasing historic and important films from cinematic history. https://www.facebook.com/SCADCinemaCircle?fref=ts

In Southern India’s Coimbatore city, there are two theatres I know of that still run 35mm film (as of August 2013). One is Royal Theatres in Town Hall Road and Delite Theatre in Variety Hall Road. Both the cinemas have digital projectors, but they still use their 35mm projectors to screen old movies, in prints which are often in bad shape. Both the cinemas had their days of glory, but are now on rough terrain. Of the two, Delite Theatre celebrated its centenary a few weeks back.
Unfortunately, neither of the cinemas have websites or Facebook pages. But I have added links to news articles about the two theatres.
