Noticeboard Guidelines and Tips
Please note that Registration for the Noticeboard is not necessary, but Topics must be confined solely to Notices of Equipment Wanted or For Sale / Donation.
Off-topic posts, or any discussions, will be removed. Users of this Noticeboard should correspond directly with the Buyer or Seller when replying to Notices.
Please ensure to include your name and appropriate contact details in the body of your post. If concerned about possible email address harvesting, please write any contact email address provided in the format “name (dot) name (at) serviceprovider (dot) com” (for example), including the spaces shown.
Because Registration is not necessary, please note that regrettably, posts cannot be edited after making them. We suggest that posts be drafted offline first, checked without the pressures present when writing posts “live”, then copied and pasted into the message field. Also, you may reply to your own post if necessary, providing a further opportunity for any clarifications or corrections.
Posts must be made using a real name: anonymous or pseudonymous postings will be removed.
Posts can be assumed to have been made when the fields clear in the “Create New Topic” form on the Noticeboard index page (accessed via the “Go to Noticeboard” link on the Changeovers main page), after clicking the “Submit” button.
When an equipment exchange transaction is completed, we recommend posting a reply to the initial post. In any case, posts will be automatically deleted every three months. Items can be re-advertised if necessary.
In order to prevent spam postings, posts are pre-moderated. This means that both new topics and replies to topics will not appear immediately on the Noticeboard. Regrettably this is unavoidable due to the current lack of effective anti-spam measures for this type of online forum. If and when such measures become available, the posting procedures will be amended to remove delays in posting.
Administrators of the Noticeboard cannot verify the content of postings for accuracy or be held accountable for message content. Parties making posts to the Noticeboard bear sole responsibility and liability for the content of their postings.
Any defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials are strictly prohibited.
Additionally, please do not post commercial messages that do not relate specifically to the Topics of the Noticeboard.
The Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) reserves the right to terminate access of any user who does not abide by these guidelines and rules.
